Full analysis of NME

For my full analysis of a magazine i have chose to analysis NME music magazine, the front cover of this magazine has the price which is at £2.30 a week and the date on the cover as well. At the top of the magazine is a competition to win festival tickets which shows their target audience will like festivals and gigs and therefore will buy the magazine. The title is in yellow and is bold so is easy to see it also goes very well with the background and makes it stand out on the black background. The main person is looking at the camera she is standing in front of a pool. Around the edge is information about the magazine and what is inside the magazine. The font around the edge is black and white the colours that are mostly used are yellow black and white not including the blue background. At the bottom of the magazine it has a plus section to show all the extra articles and information that is in the magazine.

The contents page has 8 pictures on it has the title as "inside this week" and underneath is the date, it has one big picture in the middle to show the feature article and underneath a quote off the article and the page number. around the sides of the page is little other pictures of some pages and there the quotes underneath also on the side has the page number, It also has a plus section on here same as the plus at the front of the magazine. The background is very plain and white but the pictures fill up the space and makes it work.

The feature article i have chosen is one of the main person on the front of the magazine and is titled "Courtney love is dead" it is set out with the photographs name under the title and underneath is a paragraph to briefly describe the article. There are three columns and in the middle a little picture of the people that the article is about, on the opposite page is a big picture on the person the article is of. The artcile runs for 6 pages, the second double page has again three columns and 6 pictures on and 5 of them are previous magazine covers that she is on. on both of the pages there are two quotes from what she has said. on the next page is a biggish picture of her. At the bottom is a film review which has nothing to do with the article.

Inside the magazine is alot of advertisement of tickets for festivals and gigs that are up coming which resembles their target audience, they are also advertising a new Sony Ericson's phone and shows you the contracts that you can get, shows a CD that you can get from hmv, how to subscribe to the magazine for half price which alot of NME readers will take and use. There is also a competition to win a camera a Sony bloggle which alot of their target audience will like.
