Qu 3: What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?
This is Bauer logo which is there largest privately owned publisher in Europe they publish keerang which would be a company to publish with as they do the total opposite magazine to mine.
The magazine i would say would be a medium publisher such as the publisher of vibe or billboard as they are the same genre and type of magazine so therefore would be around about the same publisher. Using a different publisher to vibe and billboard i think is a good idea as such as NME which is published by IPC which is owned by time Warner they might sell more as the publisher is for all rock and punk music so selling hip hop and R&B might make a big difference as it may attract more audience to there publishing company.
The disadvantages of going with a big publishing company such as IPC would be that having a medium publisher such as such as clash magazine did is that self-publishing does so much better as they big companies as there is less competition with in the company as the ere will only be such as one magazine by looking at clash magazine, they have the multi award winning magazine so does really well.
An advantage of being in a big company would be that they will have more knowledge of what they are doing when publishing and distributing the magazine so therefore will make the magazine get bigger and well known to the audience and readers.
Distribution is key to a magazine's success as it attracts the target audience. The right sort of advertising and marketing in the right place raises awareness of the magazine and enables people to decide what is right for them. The magazine needs to be distributed in the right outlets for it's budget so it is displayed to it's target audience. To gain maximum shelf space magazine companies use distribution companies such as Marketforce (UK) ltd, this only applies to magazines which are likely to be instantly commercially successful.
synergy As my magazine is going to be published in a medium company there will be alot of advertising on TV and radio, on posters and billboards. Which will be seen by alot of my target audience which our teenagers and people in there early twenties, that live in the city so therefore will see alot of billboards and posters also there is a big radio station in places such as london such as capital fm which all my target audience listen to as it plays the type of music that is in the magazine so it would good to be advertised on that radio station.
